Team rider, Sarah Hébert is preparing to embark on an epic adventure this year: to cross the entire Atlantic Ocean by windsurf. No big deal...
The Challenge: Senegal to Guadalupe - 3800 km - 7 hrs sailing/day - 25 days Not only will Sarah be the first female to make the crossing on a windsurfing board, she will be the first person to make the trip "mainstream". Over the course of 25 days, she plans to sail for an average of 7 hours each day and sleep at night on the boat (a 30-meter trimaran), making a note of the GPS coordinates where she stops for the night and then resuming at those exact coordinates in the morning. Her objective is maximum transparency, so she has a team of professional cameraman and photographer onboard to document the adventure. A champion windsurfer since 2000, Sarah is no stranger to pushing her limits. In 2008, after a routine medical examination, she discovered that she had a heart rhythm disorder that required her to have a defibrillator implanted to continue to live 100%. Two months after her surgery, she won the European Championships.
The Latest News from Sarah "My training is going very well. I've been in New Caledonia for a month and will leave on the 11 of January. After that, I will have 15 busy days in France to prepare the expedition. In the beginning of February, we will be in Dakar ready to go! It's super exciting to be at this level of the adventure. My start is soon and I'm so happy to realize this dream, it's fantastic. 15 days ago, I did all the East coast of New Caledonia with a friend: 4 days, 8 hours sailing/day. It was fantastic to discover my island this way. A wonderful souvenir and great training." Everyone at Naish wishes you luck and great adventure, Sarah!
